Hi Tony,

It's taken me a while to read all your posts but I eventually caught up. I just wanted to say nice work & I look forward to seeing it in the future.

Regards Ged

I've noticed that the air IAT sensors are above the headers, you might have probs with heat soak when parked or in traffic. Or have I got it compleatly wrong... Just a thought..

what a nightmare of a day

filled the rad up with water and anti freeze, no leaks sweeeeeet,
came back 15mins later and a small pool of water under both lower corners of the rad on the floor,
poop! looks like the rad is either leaking due to age or the seals on the end tanks have gone dry, im hoping once the car is running and up to temp they reseal, if not new rad needed :(

So next on the list, fit the exhaust,
this went together real sweet and didnt take long,

so next on the list,
oil...
filled the sump up, filled oilcooler up and the filter,.
connected the battery and she spun over , man that new starter is an animal,
no oil pressure on the gauge after a minute of cranking,
mmmmmmm,
removed the oil pressure gauge fitting and back fed oil into the pump, turned key still no oil pressure,
now the arse is starting to tighten, WTF have i done wrong? :?
was starting to wonder if i had used the correct timing cover gasket.
SO last resort removed the O/E oil cooler bung next to the sump under the timing cover used a fitting and a length of hose into the bung hole, lifted the end of the hose above the engine, placed a funnel in the pipe and back fed the pump with more oil,
if it dont work this time its going to be engine out and see WTF is wrong,
oil started seeping from the oil gauge fitting, refitted pipe, along with the bung ,
Cranked her over nowt, WTF is going on with this ferking engine
thought we would try once more before we would have to decide to take the engine out for a look, turned the key and up she came, over half way on the gauge cranking over on the key with 15w/40 oil 8)

So we now have oil pressure,
time to sort the fuel out and prime the system,
filled the tank up with the fuel we drained from the car when we started the rebuild (£30 SUL),
turned ignition on, pump buzzed, which was a good sign as it means i wired the ecu right
then as it came up to pressure the pump struggled and pop went the fuse,
thought how strange,
changed the fuse and tried again, bang it went again,
tried another fuse and thought i'll see what the pressure gauge is doing went the pump fires up before the fuse blows,
and nowt, i thought here we go again a gauge with no pressure ,
checked pump, all fine, and guess what i had done :x
got the flow and return pipes on the regulator the wrong way round
sorted that out and it didnt blow a fuse anymore and we had a fuel pressure on the gauge,
at least it tested the fuel fittings and fuel line from Torque.co.uk and it didnt leak

Turned her over on the key before we left tonight to be safe. (been stood 45mins)
couple secs and up over half way on the gauge,

So fingers crossed by Tuesday night it could be running capri, :P

If she's ready, please feel free to have a steady test drive over to the dyno day next Saturday for a chat.

Tony, minor thing, but those butresses behind your mufflers having a V shape will hold water and dirt/mud/salt from the road and will rot through the muffler ends and where the pipe goes in! Might be worth putting a couple of 1/2" holes in the low corner in the V, as I'm sure you are intending on keeping her for a while!!!

When you turn engine over does the fuel pump start, ie is it sensing the timing wheel.

Tony,

Well done for getting it together so quickly and doing a nice job, shame about the lack of spark.

Does the Vems have built in coil drivers or are you using the Edis 8 kit?

Kevin.

Tony - in case you look here first, check the tooth width in the primary trigger config. It looks to be 0.0 when it should be 10.0

This would stop the ECU reading any teeth!

is that angular width of tooth mate?
or angular width of missing tooth?
as both say 0?
