hi mate,
doing in situ with no gasket will cut a 3mm relief for inlet and exhaust and the valve is 1.7 oposed to the 1.63's that are in the heads 8)

well not a very good day on car today,
got very little done which is not good,
the new cam timing wheel arrived,
Image

decided to get a proper metal one now instead of the good ole plastic one i got.

i got the timing cover off without damaging the sump gasket which is a result,
got the old cam out too and 90% of the two manifold bolts out,
Image

collected the gaskets:

The heads are now ready to go on complete with new stem seals,

Cam has new key way fitted and is ready to be mated up to the new timing gear,

im hoping to get both manifolds off tomorrow along with the servo and both heads,
my aim is to get the piston reliefs cut at least by end of tomorrow, which gives me the rest of the week to get cam dialed in and preload set, egt fitted heads on plenum done and fired up, bed cam in drop oil and fill with fresh

Be intresting to see how our cars compare head to head without gas, you have to be mid13s without gas now

Reg arrived this morning with a pair of shiney new throttle shafts,
the fittment was spot on, and the workmanship amazing, thanks again Reg and thanks for the chat too.

Does anyone know where i can get one of the anti vibration lock tabs from????
it goes over the threaded slot at one end of the shaft and locks the nut to the shaft

i will take a pic and post here later of what i mean,

Im off round the garage now to try and get some more done while the sun is shining

I got the reliefs cut today in the end, the exhaust one is very close to the piston edge though,
but they are now all done, that was the hard part, can now start reassembling the engine,

Stg3 head on just for a picture

tomorrow(monday) i will fit and dial the cam, weld the 02 sensor boss in the drivers manifold and give both manifolds a coat of heat resistant black paint,
fit manifolds and hope to get the heads back on along with the servo reiftted.
then set lifter preload.

Tuesday i hope to, finish the exhaust manifolds and paint, fit the new water pump and etch prime and paint the pump and timing cover, fit the rocker gear, and set preload, fit the manifolds back on,

which should leave for wednesday/Thursday fit rocker covers and injection fit servo fill with water prime oil pump and fire up and take for a test run.

Well today got off to another slow start,

First job was to clean up the rocker gear,
the ones that came with the heads were newer but still dirty,
Image
a bit of soaking and tlc and they look like new.
Image
and then fitted to engine,
Image

Welded the extra sensor bungs for the egt/af gauge in the drivers manifold, and wire wheeled and painted them both,
Image
Image

stripped the old paint from timing cover BORINGGGGGGGGG.
then degreased etch primered and then top coated :D
Image
Image
need to clean the gasket faces up now before oil pump and water pump are fitted.

all that is left now is, fit the exhaust manifolds once gaskets arrive,
set lifter prload, fit rocker covers, fit servo, fit timing cover and water pump, fit dizzy, fit efi system, fit radiator,
fingers crossed if things go well next two days i will be at wheels day on good friday.

Another thing you could make Tony if you ge time (and it cost very little) is make a crossover "X" pipe for you exhaust, i was quite shocked at how much of a difference it made to mine!

that is next on the list Gav, i want her back on the road and drivable as show season and drag racing is starting,
i have seen the set up Neil does at caprisport and was well impressed with it.
got any pics of yours?

Yup I've seen neils and its a looker alright! Mines pretty similar but no pics as my digi camera still doesn't exist yet!

I used two 90 degree bends welded together much like Uwe Taubes who had the twin screw charged v8 capri.
