The bench is undergoing some winter upgrades - be a shame to test V8 heads without it being a full eight cylinder bench so its got its full complement of motors now.

I have also improved the sealing of the motor box by adding a steel framework and will also add some bracing to the motor box.

I have also made a head mounting fixture - the tube is a bit big at the moment - diameter is 104mm - ideally the bore diameter needs to be withing 1mm of the actual - but a quick search of e-bay and I have found some 100mm OD 3mm wall clear Acrylic tubing - 94mm bore :D - and cheap enough for a metre of the stuff delivered as well.

Just waiting for the local nut and bolt supplier to open up so that I can get hold of the right fasteners to put it all together again.

Hi Andrew, have you tried bolting an inlet manifold on to see how much it affects the figures?

Simple answer to that is no I have not...

I'm not sure that the current mounting jig will actually accommodate a manifold on the side of the head without fouling the bench so that's something I will have to look into.

Cheers

Stunning setup there Andrew. Looking forward to meeting you on Friday and putting the Merlins through the test. Hope that the roads are clear of snow by then. We will travel about 600miles that day...

Snow wise we are pretty clear where I am at the moment and the main routes are having a thaw so fingers crossed.

I have just done a check on the bench and mounting a manifold should not be an issue so I will give it try but the only manifolds I have are old SU types - More blooming hardware I need to collect

Will also have to dig out a couple of old SU's to try out a few flow tricks on - rumor has it that a single 1.75 SU can flow quite well with a couple of simple mods.

Looks like rebuilding the G27 may take longer than expected
