From the rockers that were on the car, all I was seeing was the slightest show of oil between only 'some' of the posts and rockers, but there wasnt even enough oil showing, even after a few minutes, to overflow back down the drain holes. I also suspect its the rockers that are blocked.CastleMGBV8 wrote:Chorlton
If your seeing a lot of oil from the old rockers they are probably quite worn. How much oil and from where are you expecting to see from the new rockers. I still think it's blocked oilways in the rockers themselves.
From new ones I would at least expect to see suffient oil moving though to return back down through the drain holes
.
The point is, the rocker shafts that were on the car, when dismantled, were very badly worn. Logic would say to me its best to renew the lot, and spend time cleaning the wax off them and end up with new and cleaned rocker assemblies than spending a similar amount of time cleaning up worn and old rockers only to still be left with old and worn rockers!.I would take them off the shafts clean them so you can try blowing through from the pushrod end. If they are blocked then take them somewhere they have an airline and blow them through.
If you buy new ones you may have the same problem because of the protective wax they put in the pushrod end, they should always be cleaned before use. I had a couple that were sods to clear.

As stated im going to Beaulieu this weekend and see there is the Old Sodbury Land rover field there this year so might be able to get a new set of rocker assemblies there
