the tach spike? - how is your ignition setup?, looked back a page or two and saw a dizzy...

yes mate, got dizzy (unilite) and a cdi unit (mal-685)
the ecu picks up on the tach output on the cdi unit,
you recon i should move it to the negative coil post instead?

I dont think you can do that with your ignition T. Your ignition is cdi so it doesn't run on 12v to coil which is why the unit has a tach out.

Right ecu is back at Rob's ( www.vems.co.uk ) for repair as we have found a few components on the board either blown or damaged,
the ecu has been tested after repair and the ego now seems to be working (limited bench test) not sure if the spikes have been cured, will find out when the ecu returns home this week.
fingers crossed

Update:
a wire was off on the board and was making contact over a couple of the microprossesor pins, also there was a damaged diode and a blown Inductor,
now Rob did 3 tests,
one: out the box from me which shows noisy signal and lots of spikes,
two: with wire fault sorted, signal starting to look smooth but still a few spikes,
three: all the above sorted plus diode and Inductor replaced, shows clean signal and ego fuel correction working 8-)

ecu is back and is now working a treat,

while ecu has been away i have been starting to get some bits ready for the cars face lift inside,

Image

thing is they aint cheap :(
autometer phantom, reason i went for these as the capri had a white dial kit,
and these look as close to stockish as we could, plus they look better

just the rest to find now, if any one spots any cheap gauges like above let me know please,

Im after,

rev counter, (3" or the 5" monster with shift)
volts,
fuel,
water temp,
oil temp,
nitrous pressure,
vaccuum/boost,

EDITED:
the smaller gauges need to be the 2 1/16" (52mm) ones

I have oil pressure, temperature and boost gauges in the style you want. They're sitting around not really doing anything.

I'm pleased about finding a definite problem with the ECU. If you let me have a datalog, I'll work out some new corrections - no doubt it'll all be a bit different now ego is working...

heres the log mate along with latest .msq file,

www.v-8.org.uk/zipfiles/log04_04_08.zip

the VE table on my laptop is different to the one in the zip file Dave,
as i started to richen her up where the ego went real lean etc,
i also think my lambda table is not right as it was roughly done, then we had the ego prob and never got back round to propperly setting it up.
but you recon your software could do this yeah when you had a proper datalog with ego readings?

well decided to fit the new timing cover and oil pump while off this week, and wish i hadn't.
on removal of the crank pulley the keyway has elongated so timing up is shot, on fitting the new timing cover and oil pump we had a leak, turned out the threads were shot where the oil switch screwed into,
so had to reface an older pump so the engine could be run up,
oil pressure seems good now, removed the tadpole valve i was using and gone back to the o/e pressure relief valve, and my oil pressure has come right back up at idle again now when hot. sits just over half (capri gauge) at 2.5k when hot goes 3/4 up gauge when you rev it,
sits at about 1/4 gauge at idle when hot, (was sitting in top part of the red with tadpole which is rock bottom of the gauge)

Have at last managed to order the clutch from AP Racing,
will be around a 4week wait.
its rated to 340 ftlb but they told me it will handle a lot more, thats just the torque rating range they sell it in at a constant rate.
also ordered a gasket and seal kit for my vittesse 5 speed box, so i can get that sorted and back in my car, have proper ratios again i hope
any one got any info etc on strip down/rebuild of the lt77 boxes?

The seats look cool Tony. I must get some proper ones for mine so I can ditch the two small sofa's I have in there at present. I need to sit 2" lower as my helmet rubs on the roof lining.

So if you get the clutch in we might get together for a cuppa before the end of the Summer eh?

Cheers

Cheers Perry,

Well a deposit has been placed on my credit card so the order for the clutch must be in production now,

as soon as its here will let you know when we can get togeher for that cuppa mate,

have also dropped my seats 1.5 inches as my crash helmet touched the headlining also,
i was going to make them multi height adjustment but decided against it as dont want the car in too many pieces when the clutch arrives

Congrats on your new PB by the way mate, i got a lot of work to do now to catch you and Ian.
