It is very much a work of art

Finally got it to a point where it could be mapped and with with mixed results.

Made 503 bhp with the bonnet up and lost 46bhp with it down!

Dave walker said it could be the bonnet reflecting the pulses from the throttle bodies but it does suffer from very high inlet air temperature.

I've got hold of a Cosworth bonnet with the vents and may also chop a hole in the middle once I've come up with a plan to let some cool air in, this would also give the chance to experiment with tuning the inlet length as it is way too short.

Just ditch the bonnet and save a few kgs :)

How close are the filter tops to the bonnet ?

I'd have tried a piece of wood or something sitting atop them for a test to see if it is close proximity causing it, with bonnet up.

As for temps, unless the dyno fan is substantial, underbonnet temps should be better on the road when moving.

Bonnet is closer at the front than the back, stuck in traffic the inlet air temp can easily get up to 65 degrees C

I watched this the other day and a variation on the theme could be a solution to the intake heat, not sure what would happen if it got caught out in a rain storm!

TBH that doesn't look horrendously close. I'm sure there are plenty of solid plenums out there with similar top plate clearance.

Stuck in traffic, obviously there will be heat soak Unless you have some way to keep cool air moving through the engine bay. And even more so when the radiator is blowing hot air into the engine.

Not done anything about inlet air temps yet, but I have been trying to fix an issue with the power steering as it's too heavy.

The bracket the hold power steering pump doubles up as a torque arm to try and stop engine twisting.

I've already made one new bracket to take a120 bar BMW pump as opposed to the 100 bar Peugeot pump I'm running at the moment.

No pictures taken making this and it's probably just as well as I f#cked it up wasting a big chunk of time and aluminium

Somehow the angle the new pump sat at was wrong so I measured the difference, bought some more ali and started again!

Nice!!

Interestingly I've never had a mismatch between pump & steering box, although it's always been a Rover or Land Rover pump and a Land Rover or Freight Rover steering box.

Chris.

Cosworth rack and pump are meant to be 100 bar, trouble is the steering was horribly stiff with a 100 bar Peugeot pump :?

I'm hoping this one doesn't blow the seals in the rack...

I used whatever was on my LS engine and it works fine with a Sierra rack

Nice machining work there.
