Bit of an update,
trying to get the intercooler mounted before the car gets moved to my mums while we move house,
if i have my calcs right i now only need to let the intercooler inlet/outlet pipes 40mm into the bonnet slam panel, BUT i noticed tonight the intercooler may now foul on the bonnet mech, so need to have a proper look once the panels cut etc,
are there any nice looking pins out there instead of the trev R clip ones???

Bit of an expensive night
managed to get the rad and intercooler to go in together, then after a bit of trimming the rad can be removed leaving the intercooler behind.
Still need to trim the panel to let the outlet/inlet pipes of the intercooler go up higher allowing the rad to be lifted a bit more giving clearance to the temp switch,
had an off moment, rad got jammed yanked on it in temper leaving the bottom half behind and snapping one of the pipes off the oil cooler
New rad and oil cooler added to the shopping list,
Also had confirmation today the new charger kit will be ready for me to collect in a week/2 weeks
the rad and intercooler together before i lost it and broke it

How bad is the damage ? Might be able to get it repaired at a local rad shop.

its fucked mate, rad has been in the cappa for over 14yrs, and it was S/H when i got it too, the base plate that clamps the bottom of the rad together has rotted out and its all fell apart, the ally core is still good though
So ideal time to renew it, once someone bothers mailing me back confirming its the ally rad they have for sale and not the copper one.
The oilcooler maybe repairable, but ordered a new mocal oil cooler tonight and will be here the weekend,

Doesnt look too much different to a Cossie rad...plus it'd be the right size for the IC.

the problem is the outlets mate,
had all my hoses and stainless pipes etc made to fit the audi rad, and the cossie rad different sides , (i think).

Best just to stick with it then.
A New replacement shouldnt be that expensive ? I'd sooner buy either a new replacement unit, than some cheap ebay alloy one regardless of what it's made with.
or a known good second hand unit.

Rad companies on ebay selling replacement audi ally rads for £50-£70,
one of the v8 capri boys bought one from ebay and had no probs with it, (have mailed them waiting on a reply)
one good thing with the rad breaking, it means i can change the lower rad support bracket as never liked it, and with cutting the crossmember support away to clear the intercooler i can now change it to a better mount.

Yea that sort of thing should be fine. I meant avoid the all alloy units. At the cheap prices you see on stuff like that on ebay, the water core can only be crap.
But an OEM style replacement should be fine.
Ive no issue buying cheap intercoolers off ebay, but water cooling cores must be good.

Had another night in the garage after work,
trimmed a bit more of the front panel and found RUST!!!!, so trimmed more out to make good, and trimmed other side to match, bit of knock on around the cut out once painted etc should make it look better i hope,
Can't lift the intercooler any higher now as its tight up under the hump of the panel,
The rad goes back in now BUT 10mm lower to clear the cooler pipes,
need to trim some of the cross member/valence section away in the engine bay to allow clearance for the new fans,
Once the new Rad is ordered and gets hear i can make up the new lower rad mounts,
All in All its getting there,
