As those boxes get old, the clutches wear. The particles should get picked up by the filter. Eventually however, they get into the governor, which then causes the 'box to 'hang' in a low gear, sometimes just staying in first. It tends to clear up as the box warms up.

Chris.
I placed new oil and filter when fitting, the filter and oil was very clean.
Perhaps they tried to sort the problem with a new filter and oil before selling the box.
I hope not, the guy i bought it from said it was in good working condition :?
The box has been in my workshed for a couple of years this is not a perfect condition i know.

Just did a testrun, it is just freezing so the box is cold.
Everything just workt fine, with the engine warming up the gearbox also got smoother.
The only thing a hear is a bit of a noise coming from the torque convertor- gearbox. I hear it only on idle
Sounds like a cluth release bearing. (i know there is none)
Is this normal ?
