A dishwasher will be great, just stick it on the hottest setting and add a second detergent pill or as much powder as it can take.
It runs hot, so the part will dry completely on the outside, but remember there will be water in the nooks and crannies internally, so your plan to blow dry and WD40 is very sensible.

After the clean, run the dishy again empty with a dose of powder or a tablet to clean it for 'er indoors to be able to use again. Play your cards right and she will probably never know you were there...... :twisted:

Result!!
I have 'er indoors's old one waiting in the garage for when the great tidy-up and reshuffle happens.
It's not accidental there's a parts cleaner sat on top of it, either...........
