I would not go out as far as 1 3/4 primaries. 1 5/8 will do up to about 500-550 bhp on an SBC depending on the rest of the build 1 3/4s are ok for about 750 to 800 bhp on a BBC they really are too big for a rover without a blower to help. From Tony's earlier post it looks like he has a set sorted, can't you get them from the same place?
I am on 2" primaries on my SBC build, but originally I was going for a cross over type manifold with it, now as I said earlier it will be open primaries and methanol, later to have a blower and I am not fussed about throttle responce of Idle or driving in traffic.
Shame it is for the road, you could have done a full length Megaphone exhaust in 2 1/2 pipe and some flat stock, would have sounded wicked!
I think the side pipes and a ballance pipe might be the best answer as far as getting it all in, cant dump the fuel tank and stick a fuel cell in the boot?

What will happen using 1 7/8" (47 mm) primaries? Better or worse if the inner diameter is that big?

Engine has 256 hp on the dyno with 1 3/4 primaries.

Will it loose power with the bigger headers?
Primaries to 2 y pipes 2,5" (57 mm inner) and then to one y pipe 3" connected to Cherry bombs.

Cheers

Have a look over here
This guy (Adam Christian) ran all sorts of tests at the university where he lectures

Incredable information from him as it gives back to back info.
Yes information based on a 5.0l Ford but great information for sure
