Pete!
The free flow of your pump is not what you need to measure for accurate testing.
Your 3 litres per minute is enough to run about 500hp. But you need to know what the pump will deliver with the resistance of the fuel system taken into account ?
I use a simple, but very crude method of doing this. And its not going to be a fave with the HSE guys :D
I'll come back to that via pm if you want more info !!
Are you happy that your pressure switch works at the set value?? Have you tested it ??
The MSD Blaster coils are good value items that deliver a good punchy spark for not a lot of money. I will leave it to the RV 8 experts on here to say if your module will trigger this ok. I assume it will though :)

You will only crack pistons if you run too much gas with too much advance. What is your RV8 engine size??

The nitrous bottles get fairly warm to the touch at 900 psi... And when doing as quick warm up with my (other method of warming the bottle) they can creep to 1200 psi quickly when full :)

My MGB GT does not have a lot of weight over the rear end. So I use slicks to get my traction. What car do you drive, and what rear tyres do you have??

And do you have LSD or a diff locker of some sort??

Perry

Hi Perry,

You are right in that free flow is not the best test. My NOS book explains how to do a test at WOT using the fuel solenoid and a bottle. Having said that I fitted a pump that is so OTT I'm sure that it will be OK. The Edelbrock gumph does give the figures for flow at 7.5 PSI somewhere or other. The other thing is my AFR shows that the setup is too rich at the moment anyway. (Well is was with 45/47 jets).

I set the adjustable low pressure switch myself using a fluke meter and a pressure gauge, I'm sure that its OK.

If you reckon that a blaster coil is will make a difference I'll look into getting one. I'm going to buy another dizzy and make a retard unit that kicks in with the NOS.

My engine is a 4.6, it puts out 285 BHP at the fly without NOS. I guess 350 BHP with the NOS would keep me happy!

The car is a Cobra replica, it runs a Ford 3.36:1 LSD diff and 17" wheels. The tyres are Goodyear Eagle 235's. The box is an R380. (First gear is useless even though the box came from a Morgan or something similar so it does not have the mega low first gear).

The car is just used for high days and holidays on the road. I spent half my life racing F1 sidecars, I just need something to get me into the garage now but without the pressure!

I'm keen to learn about your heater system, I'll PM you!

I think that I might have hijacked this thread!

Once again thanks for your help!

Cheers,

Pete

Trial body fit to run some checks. Also wiped down with a damp rag. 18 months in a dusty garage/ workshop had took its toll

I sure hope not because that would mean i have another 6 years to go!
I am hoping to reach a point this weekend where i can turn the key, sort out the electrical gremlins, panic, put the fire out, fix the leaks, start it again and finally bed the cam in.

The shiny y piece is a 'CliveF' decat pipe. I already removed the precats from the manifolds as these were only in for euro legislation.
The ehxaust then runs through a straight through box mid way but i also cut this open and half sleeved the baffles.
Its going to be quite loud.
Not drag strip loud but rather loud for the road.

I (or a mate) will be filming the fire up so i will post it asap

Well funny you ask.
The engines built with forged pistons, a tight squish, fully ported big valve heads, an 8:1 compression ratio and a bespoke nitrous friendly solid cam.

I am running EFI as was for now but will be building to a 250 shot of nitrous over this year.

Next year could see the turbo (or 2) added.
