Hi Marki
The thing was it was a 1500 mile old demonstrator, felt about as precise as a Maxi, and about as heavy, a case of point and shove, combined with a rediculasly heavy clutch it was a big dissapointment.
Best regards
Mike

That linkage look easy to reproduce so working on that I'll try for an SD1 box if I can find one cheap enough.
Looking like 400 quid for a recon at the moment and I cant afford it yet.

Managed to locate a late model low mileage SD1 Vittess gearbox with flywheel etc..
Will this be ok for my track V8 with a 3.3 salisbury diff please.
Think I'll google the Vitess and find the diff ratio like I should have done first

That combination should be fine, depending on wheel and tyre size, let me know what you intend using and I can work out the speed range through the gears.
Ratio for Vitesse was 3.08 if i remember correctly but this would give around a theoretical 170 MPH in 5th!
Just worked out with 3.3 ratio and 195/65 x 15 tyre speed in gears at 6000 RPM as follows
1st 41 2nd 65 3rd 97 4th 135 5th 170 MPH which is quite a nice spread of gear speeds 5th would be useful at Snetterton with the long straight.

Thanks for that very useful information, seems my diff is 3.2 to 1.
Looks like I'll be using just 4 gears most of the time as I will be at Oulton park or Anglesy tracks.
Anglesy will be third I think. Depends of course on how well the car goes but with about 180 bhp ( not sure yet ) and 700 kilos it should be reasonably quick.
Wheels are 14 inch with high profile tryes for now but will be using 15s on low profiles when I can afford some Minilites.
Still waiting for the gearbox, it will be here in a few days, the job is waiting as I cant weld engine mounts on the car until I can line the transmission up.
hey ho
