Thats the general idea Tom!!
I'll do all I can as usual with spray cans from Halfords :)

Next phase will be to flat that all back and then use some stopper to get the little niggly bits blended in.

I'm going to ask a mate of a mate with a bodyshop to bung some primer on and bake it for me. Then If I can afford it I'll ask him to do the topcoat as well.

Just had to pay the gas and leccy bills so its bread and dripping until the end of the month again :)

Are you going to get the car re-done with your new arches as well? That would look the nuts

The new arches are sturdy enough to go racing with right now.
They are on the list to do soon. When the bonnet is finished I will work on the carb setup to try and lose the flat spot. The rear arches will be in primer with "work in progress" written on them for most of 2010 :)

Hi Perry
If you can use UPOL Acid 8 primer for your wings and make sure you key them up with 400 grit paper before you spray them.
Scoop is looking good :D
Just eat dripping and spend the bread

Paul!!
I got the primer. Will it stand being rained on if I take it to the track in primer??

Hi Perry
It should do because it is an acid etch primer so will bite into the gel.
You just got to make sure that you key the gel properly and use a panel wipe or similar before laying on the primer.
Also try to make sure that the temperature is above 10 degrees c well before you spray.
cheers

Still it will soon be spring and pouring with rain!!!!

Bit off this topic Perry but have you thought about using a crank case evac system? You said with your large ring gaps it breathes very heavily, you could make the kit yourself easily, just a small pitot type tube in each of the headers and tie the rocker cover vents in to them.

As your car is race only and no full exhaust system it should be perfect! Some drag boys in the states have claimed 20bhp extra by using an evac system, and it doesn't cost anything! Good way to pull a vacuum and get rid of the crappy blow by gasses in the crank, and free-er revving at the same time!

I have been thinking about a crankcase vacuum pump Tom!

But possibly an electric one.

I'm fitting an electric one- but home made nothing flash. As yours is a drag motor with open headers I'd definately fit the exhaust ones and a moroso relief valve http://www.jegs.com/i/Moroso/710/22637/10002/-1 I picked mine up for a few £ on ebay.

You should pull more vacuum than an electric pump and won't cost you much either. Moroso also do a very nice looking belt driven vac pump but not cheap and the engine has to work to drive it!

Go exhaust evac
