Jimmy!
I still use my original 1975 Salisbury axle on my MGB GT. In fact, I am using a pair of second hand half shafts from a 1980 1800cc GT in this axle.
I broke my diff locker, so I just welded the cogs together to get me out of trouble last year. She is a bitch when it comes to a tight turn, but I can put up with that.
I now run a 4.6 Rover in the MGB and it has all standard front and rear suspension. She also runs a 200hp shot of nitrous oxide.
I have big fat Mickey T slicks on the rear wheels as well.

This is not a trick or photo shopped picture.
This is what my MGB does when I hit the pedal. She runs 0-60mph in just under 3 seconds and does a standing 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds.

Do not be fooled into thinking that the Salisbury axle is not a strong item mate. It was over engineered from day one. And in a light MGB it will take a shed load of stick.

I love that picture Perry! I do think that you should take off the plates, cut some big holes in every panel you dont need inside and inner wings (?) and get some sort of splitter on the front though!!! Bracing under the bonnet etc etc you could prob save a good few kilos!

Hi
The rear tyres are 8 1/2" wide, but fitted to 8" Ford Rims.
I had the rims re drilled to MGB stud pattern.
They are also 26" tall as opposed to the 24" that would normally be on the car. I had to adjust the rear arches a tad.
