Sorry, is what normal usage? The oem amp was Lucas.

Mine is apparently a GM part and looked undisturbed when i pulled it apart. I have another complete system, so when I get home at the weekend I'll tear that down too and see what is inside it.

Interesting, esp given the vast amount of squids charged for the oem one. Didn't pull my old one apart cos I knew it was cream crackered.
