Holy crap, the new turbo arrived today, it has a 1.36 A/R exhaust housing!!!! And a .60 A/R compressor housing (same as the T04B turbos I have now).
Think I'll need more than nitrous to get that spooling fast on a 3.5 rover! Worth a try though eh?!
I have been looking at Turbonetics exhaust housings with the idea of swappiong them over if the 1.36 housing is far to big (which it probably is, came from a 5 litre V8). The seller reckoned the shaft had some paly - not that much nfrom what I can tell.
Gonna enquire about getting a rebuild with better shaft/impellers etc., see what AET say when I give them a call!! After all, it's just a big garrett with a different name one!

As long as the compressor isn't touching the housing (rubbing) - I would be tempted to try it before spending money getting it rebuilt.

My My that is a big one
what does it normally come from? just the combination of turbine and compressor sizes surgests an engine that is big (probably more than 5 litres) and low reving ie a big deisel!) that combination and lack of built in waste gate makes me think a static generator or marine engine.
I think you will need to get a map for it.

it came from a 5litre Rover v8 and was running an external wastegate. There is a wee bit of wobble in the shaft, but I can't quite tell if its rubbing the housing or not.
Personally, i think the exhaust side is a little bit big for a 3.5 or even a 3.9 Rover. Well, without help from Mr. Nitrous anyway lol

they all wobble a bit, as the bearings are floating. look for witness marks on the housing.
