my dials look very similar to thoes being rover.

my rev counter goes to 7 which is a bit over the top but doesnt mater i guess.

If your rev counter has a pot on the board, you dont need to change anything !!!! Just adjust it.

If it doesnt, just slice the power feed going to the coil of the rev counter, and stick a 1k trim pot in that line.

Start the car, and adjust it until the rev counter reads properly. It is as easy as it sounds.

the one i have now is a convoy binnicle and that has a pot under the black cover on the of the rev counter

Well, I found the piece of paper! :

I clearly compared two different rev counters (the 4 cylinder Maestro one and I think an 8 cylinder LDV one), and noted the differences.

The tacho designs are the 1st & 3rd in the photos I think.....

Anyway, it seems that I decided that changing C3 to 47nF was the answer. I tested it with a bench signal generator to make sure it was working OK, but I can't remember if I had to fiddle with VR1 (I suspect I did to get it spot on)

I rather think that just altering VR1 didn't give enough range to work properly with 8 cylinders.

Your mileage may vary....

i will try an get another set of dials and open them up, sounds like you had the right plan of attack tho so think i will follow sout!
