I'm getting fed up now.
V8 Devs cant supply the pistons they said they would have when i paid over the phone. They cant actually get them from their suppliers now.
They did offer for me to send my rods and pistons up so they could fit the new pistons for me last week. I'm glad I didnt now.
They have said they can get them from another supplier but they will be a lot more expensive.
Sorry for moaning guys... I'm just fed up as I want to be putting my engine back together.
I'll ring around tomorrow to see if anyone else has some stock 4.6 pistons, or stock low comp 4.0 pistons which is what V8 Devs say are the ones I need.
I'm almost thinking of borrowing some dosh to buy a set of forged pistons at this moment in time.

Can find a few places doing +20 for £180 but as soon as you go standard size the price goes stupid £58 each for example. Almost worth getting a rebore for

Perry,
I've had a good search through all my links and i've come up with the same as Marki at £33 + VAT one nutter was even asking £80 a piston!!!
You could try RPI as they strip complete engines and may have a set that have only been test run.
Alternatively if your prepared to risk a used set you could try Alan Coote at Range Rover Heaven in Wiltshire 01249 890511 or Mob. 07711 369785
I had to speak to Alan Coote re some other bits, no joy on the pistons I'm afraid
Good luck.
Kevin.

Thanks lads
I'm just back in and I'm going to look at those links in a mo.
I found some piston prices on the net last night. Are these folk having a larrfff!!!!!!
I cant even find any forged pistons at stock size. I would normally have pulled the engine and split it from the box so I could work on the stand with it. But a mate lent the crane so I now have a bare block in the bay still attached to the tranny.
Ii would have thought being a V8D engine it would have been rebored for the new build. But I cant see a bore that is over 94.08mm
I'll have a cuppa and chill for a bit befoe I come back for a look see.

WHAYHAYY!!
I just found a set at JED.
Same price as V8 Devs. In fact, it was Ray at V8 Devs who scouted round and found them for me. He then rang me to appologise for not getting them in time and told me the John Eales had some.
Customer service or what.....

I just got my new pistons from JED. I decided to deliver them to Lutterworth to their workshops to reduce postage delays. When he heard my sob story he raised his eyebrow's and told me to come down to the workshops. They were so helpful. He did me a great deal on a new set of stock 4.6 pistons, rings, +10 end shells, big end bolts, and he put the new pistons onto the rods with new wrist pins while I waited. £235 all in.......
And he wrote down the big end fitting procedure with the torque settings etc.
I'm going back there again.
And for the first time, someone who agree's with me that the Rover V8 will take a sh*t load of gas on stock internals if its applied properly and sensibly as long as you pay attention to ring gaps and timing. He also does his own forged V8 pistons @ £680 + vat.
I had a look at one. Solid as a rock they are. When you look up inside you can see the oil holes in the bottom land, and above that they are solid , so no thin wall behind the two top ring lands.
He doesnt sell any nitrous stuff by the way. He just builds engines to take nitrous if required.
HAPPY BUNNY TIME..........

Perry,
Thats great news and useful information, I got my 4.2 77mm crank from them and although there were problems with the crank they sent a new one without any quibbles.
