Hi Marki
sorry didn't realise there was such a differance between the RR belhousing and the SD1 unit. The box on ebay claims to be an SD1 box though, I thought we left the 4X4 box behind a bit further back :?
I'll but out of this one here.

260234696450 is the one your after as its 2wd first one is a 4x4 box so you will see the difference now.

Mike no problem I made the same mistake years ago and bought a 4x4 bell housing. That's why I know what the diff is now lol, still have it if anybody wants it

Kiwicar has already Given you a list earlier in this thread, just drop the 4x4 stuff from it unless you want a lot of work.

The LT77 is also used in all 5 speed TR7's, personaly I wouldn't worry to much about the box, the expensive bits to get are the V8 bellhousing , clutch release fork, flywheel, clutch pivot and bearing caririer, For my TR8 I spent approx £150 on these bits,In contrast I only paid £100 for the complete 4 cyl TR7 engine and 5 speed box.

Also have you thought about using a sierra floor pan / rearend ? this is what Ford did to create the Escort Cosworth.

Can somebody please tell me how to identify an R380 box: are these similar externally to the LT77? There are numbers quoted on this site for LT77 but I have not found any for the R380. I bought a gearbox recently from a Sherpa and the number on it didn't make sense though the box was very very similar to the LT77. It had the short remote shifter with it so it was worth a gamble.

Cheers v8thud

The R380 has the reverse gear on the right hand side of the gate LT77 on the left.
