Ebay is where I nabbed the shot from - It was red when I last saw it a few years back and the old owner Robs website has long since gone.
I think that should be Dampest Salop not Darkest

but yep still here although my own formative years were in "Norf Landan mate".
I keep thinking to myself that now the chassis is sorted in My car I should go for some old yanky Iron.
Are there any issues with unleaded fuel on those old 70's 455's ?
Cheers

Apparently Buick used much harder valve seats than other manufacturers and so they stand up to unleaded fuel

I was just about to say shush, don't tell Perry, but theres a bunch of guys in the states putting a 455 Buick into an MGB GT just for fun, just imagine that with a few tweaks and a bucket full of nitrous!!!
The guy heading up the build is Jim Blackwood who has a pretty wild MGB Roadster with a blown 215, thats coming out,and a blown 340 Buick going in so that will be no slouch.
They have an ongoing build on the British V8 Register.

TH400 is a good choice, will hold that no problem. running 3x the torque through the front propshaft could get interesting though.
For anyone else considering big engine swaps into range rovers;
The 440 chrysler with the TF727 box fits into a range rover quite easily, because landrover used that box in the 80's - you just convert the 440's TF727 into 4wd and attach it the lt230.
The bulkhead needs a little massaging to miss the nearside cylinder head, but apart from that it goes it well:

Eliot, Hi
I'm going to have a new solid propshaft machined.
Ordered the new cam today as well. TA288-94H is the number of the beast

The Rover V8 does not have the BOP bellhousing pattern, so an LT77 won't be a straight bolt-up on to a 455

I dont think an LT77 would last too long on the back of a 455.
Even the later smog engines punched out over 450ft/lbs at 2800.
The 1970 engine I've bought has in standard form 510ft/lbs and with the TA cam it should be somewhere around 560ft/lbs.
If anyone is interested I will be looking at an adaptor plate while I have the engine in the shop
