Think i have sussed out the timing marks on the pulley too. I have a TDC mark with -12 to +12degrees advance either side of it then further round is a notch cut into it and painted white, i offered the timing strip i printed out up to it and the notch is 30 degrees advance so this must be what i set the timing to at full mechanical advance, this is a Serp engine btw.
Now i just need the correct ignition AMP for the 35DM8. I tried the one of the old 35DML8 but can't get it to spark. Found online that a Intermotor 15210 AMP will fire it and give a better spark so have ordered one of those.
