Yikes!!
If the dissy cog is worn that bad, then the cog on the end of the cam be be well and truly shagged??

The dissy cog is harder than the cam cog normallly?

In days gone by I have found that the cam cog can be worn so much that it slips teeth, but the disst cog is always a lot less worn ?

I am guessing that as well, so I have ordered an engine crane as my old one was loaned out and eventually died

So sometime over the next week or so it will be out and I can start to see what has happened, think I have caught it just in time before a major engine seize

As the motor has only done about 40K miles I am hoping that the filter has kept all the rubbish away from the major components, from what little I could see of the cam lobes they look OK and I did a compression test not long ago and all was well then so here's hoping that I don't have to have major machining work done as well.
