I also have top hat linered RV8 with centrifugal supercharger.
I thought the advantage of the top hat liners were that the liner mechanically can't move!
For all 8 to move down there must have been a clearance between the top hat liner flange and the step machined in the block when fitted?

they cant move, as long as the alloy supporting them is strong enough
