Ah -I'm with you. Not got a good memory for pin numbers so had to look it up. I've never seen anything suggesting that pin7 should also be grounded. But I can't see it doing any harm and could indeed provide a better overall ground for EDIS if Pin 10 was in any way marginal.

However, I don't think Ford ever did it in this way by the wiring colours. I too bought my EDIS 8 from the US with pigtails. This gives the original wiring colours just for reference.

My EDIS 8 pigtail also had a ring terminal on the ground wire suggesting it was simply grounded to the body nearby. But I decided it would be 'better' grounded to the same point on the engine block as MS.

I did a quick Google and came across a non MS EDIS connector pin out. Which had the same Ford wiring colours as I have.

it said:-

Pin 7 ignition ground (and wiring colour orange/red, rather then 'my' red/orange

Pin 10 driver ground.

The plot thickens...

If you Google Autosport Labs Megajolt installation guide, it shows the extra connection that I have made between pin 7 & 10.

The pin out description I gave in my last post suggested there was a difference between the grounds. Like a power and signal ground.

However, a bit more Googling shows Pin7 provides the ground for the EEC-IV module. So where that isn't used, I'd guess it doesn't much matter.
