Do you know what measurements they are in terms of thickness and so on?

Not sure what bore you have but I've been using 94/95 mm total seals on quite a few engines :). Guess it depends on your ring grooves. Forget omega, effing waste of space imo.

Hi Ian,

I was trawling through the previous posts about piston rings for Omega pistons. I see you went down the JE route without success (my engine is a JE early 3.9l coversion with 93.5mm bores).

Did you have any luch with Total Seal rings in the end?

Cheers,
Gary.

I did some more digging on this. Firstly I spoke to Omega Pistons directly. Sounds as though, although they supplied the pistons to JE, they didn't supply (or are able to supply) rings.
I contacted JE who are able to supply rings for 93.5mm pistons/bore at £210.

I will go down that route if I have to, but Omega pistons hinted at the fact that they thought standard rings (ie 94mm OEM) could be used, I am assuming the ring gap just needs adjusting???

So, does anyone know what ring thickness the standard 94mm (ie 3.9/4.2l) piston rings are? The current ones in my omega pistons are 2.0, 2.0 & 4.0mm.

I do not wish to thread Hi-jack, but may I just ask. How do Omega after market cast pistons compare with OE cast pistons and forged pistons in terms of their suitability for performance use. I wouldn't want to free rev an engine with OE pistons for example past 6500 rpm, they tend to let go of their crowns don't they and there is no way I can afford forged ones.
