No idea, I don't know how much the flywheels etc vary.
But one could fix the toothed thing from the Land Rover flywheel onto the SD1 type flywheel.....
Chris.
Hi Chris. Thanks for the good idea.
Probably for the future as too late for this project.
I think I have a flexplate with the toothed thing on somewhere so I will have a play at mounting it on a spare flywheel.
Anyone done this?
Regards Denis

I'd guess not many. Most will have fitted a sensor at the front as it's simply easier. But if your block has the mounting for a flywheel sensor and you can fit a suitable ring it would be a nice way to do it - and less chance of it getting whacked. Just more of a hassle if you had to take the engine out to adjust anything.

I used the GEMS pickup on the flywheel with MegaJolt. I alsu used the standard pickup. Saves a ton of faffing around with the crankshaft pulley.
One issue is the position of the 'missing tooth', in my case I just rotated the flex plate:
I am sure you can do something similar with a GEMS manual flywheel.
Note that the Thor engines used a 60-tooth pickup, and are therefore no good.
Chris.
Hi - not sure if you can help, but looking for a picture of the 4.6 crank sensor and ring set up (and Cam sensor and wheel if possible).
I'm looking to add the crank and cam sensor to a TVR 500 enigne and want to use original factory fit locations and parts where possible. I've got a TVR fly wheel so will be different to the 4.0 manual I guess, but looking to see how the OEM fitment was done, before deciding if i just fit one to the front instead.
Cheers,
Virgil.

The items shown in the photo are parts relating to the automatic standard arrangement of the 4.6 engine as fitted to the Range Rover.
The items only relevant to your case will be the sensor and toothed arrangement shown on the pic of the flywheel.
The flywheel fitted to your TVR will be originally from the Rover SD1 manual.
From what i know there was no 4.6 manual as standard, except the engine fitted to the TVR Wedges but as i say this will use the SD1 flywheel.
So trying to fit the part fitted to the auto flywheel onto a manual flywheel can only mean a lot of trial and error.
I will be going for the front mounted option, but i must finish off my Hillman Imp before i start.

Ok. Thanks. I think I'm ok for the cam sensor now...had a good look round my front cover and just need to bore a hole in the cover to accept a senior. But really want to see a gems cam wheel.
Rear crank sensor and ring still a bit of a mystery and wonder if my block is suitable. In the pics above, I presume the sensor teeth are the double row with the missing tooth at about 10 o'clock??

Hi,
V8 Deveoplments built my engine last year with a Edelbrock and Megajolt system all wired up and parts fitted and running.
May be worth giving them a call,
Martyn
