B&M ratchet shifter will work, the box is fundamentally the same as a TH700R4 and similar (apart from 4 gears) as a TH350/400

You realise its electronic - right?

Its an electronic box - which means you need an ECU to control it. There are a few aftermarket controllers availble which will run it - just depends on your skills really.

TH700R4 is the non electronic version predessor of the 4L60e which i run.

Just as a supplementary for some of you auto experts, will any of the later GM 4 (or 5) speed units bolt on to a GM 180 bell-housing?

I used a Lokar cable shifter with my box, but with hindsight would have been better with the mechanical linkeage.
I bought it in the states when on holiday - nice piece of kit.

Cable would be much easier, I'd guess? Would allow a degree of positioning without modification?

Some US BMW E39 used the a GM four speeder, and some also had the Steptronic selection option.

Hi
there are now available aftermarker ECUs and gear sets for this box that will convert them into 6 speed boxes (GM do this on the newer versions) if you end up having to buy an aftermarket controler for the box it might be worth a consideration.
Best regards

Is there a site or forum that covers all this sort of thing better than here?
