Gearbox identification help needed

Hi there,
I’ve just joined the group in the hope for some help if possible?
I have a 71’ Ford small block v8 302 and I’ve been given a four speed manual gearbox. My problem is that when I offer the bell housing up to the engine, the thrust Bearing post fouls the clutch pressure plate. The engine originally came with an auto box.
I’m really struggling to identify the gearbox and wondered if anyone on here could help me?
