Ignition module wiring

Post by Mike V »

I am fitting a rover 3.5 v8 into an mga and don’t have a wiring loom. Am trying to figure out how to connect ignition module. It has 3 connection points and would like to know which one goes where?

Well the first thing is I would not use a system that has the ignition module on the dizzy. In RV8 it cooks and develops dry joints and often failure to start - get a dizzy or a modification kit that has the ignition module located away from the dizzy - early Disco V8s had the ignition module as yours is and they were consistently failing and in about 96 the ignition module was moved to be mounted near the coil on the radiator panel.

I had a new 94 Disco 1 and suffered these issues with lot of failed to proceed and took a long time to diagnose - I moved my ignition module (no kits then) and then everything was good.

Thank you, very helpful! Does NC mean not connected?

Yes. It is actually a ground, and I'd guess used where screened cable is needed.
