Cosworth T5 to RV8 4.6 and Dowell pins

Post by Dixie6789 »

Evening.
I have mated my T5wc to the RV8 4.6. Dialed in the bell housing and got 20 thou out at 12pm/ 6pm.

Does anyone know where to get offset dowell pins for the RV8. I think I am looking for 10 thou? But will need to YouTube to confirm.

Thanks Mark

Could you just not turn some yourself on a lathe?

I have a lathe, but no idea how I would turn them down to make an offset dowell.

Lakewood can supply 0.007" pins but they are in the States, I was hoping there would be a uk source.

You would need a 4 jaw chuck to turn those out.

Just turn some dwells down smaller by the required amount, and then before tightening the BH up, ensure things are pushed in the correct direction ?

The dowels dont really do anything once things are tight.

Didnt think of doing that. That is easy enough to try.

Thanks.

You can also do the offset dowel on a 3 jaw chuck. The trick is to put a thin shim between the work piece and one jaw.

I managed to make some 0.014" pins, they dont look great but are accurate.

Have got the run out to below 0.004".

Not easy, but hopefully will work. It was 0.020" out.
