Zenith Stromberg CD 175 Needle/Jet modifications

Post by garrycol »

I have got 2 Zenith Stromberg CD175 carbs from a 3.5 RV8 in a RV8 4.6 - they run the engine Ok but do not have needles/jets suitable for the larger capacity engine. Can anyone outline what mods such as larger needles and jets are required to be made to the carbs for the larger engine.

Yes I know there are alternatives to the CD175s such as injection and other carbs etc but today's question just relates to the above.

Thanks

Garry

So I guess no one has an idea = other than Pauls suggestion to buy the book.

I was hoping that someone had done it.

Cheers

When it comes to needles and modifications, you are best advised to use a dyno or it will all be guess work.

I had the same issue with 1.75" SU's. I had it rolling roaded at Wilshers Garage, Wimpole and it was a vast improvement.

I don't know if the old boy who did it still does it, and whether they can do Strombergs.
