Exhaust manifold gaskets - Differnt sizes?.

Post by jenko »

Just received my exhaust manifolds and offered them up to the engine...all good.....But I have a set of the metal gaskets which I assumed would fit, but actually they don't line up at all. Am I right in thinking there are two sizes / types of head with the bolt holes in a slightly different place?.

The manifolds are individual primaries (i.e. each has it's own flange).

Exhaust layout in the heads is the same on all RV8s - you can put the gaskets on the wrong way around so they dont fit. Look at that first.

What manifolds have you got?

Hummmmm......I thought this might be the case, but I did try flipping them around, turning them upside down, and they were clearly not the right ones....Now, I did acquire the gaskets when I purchased the kit car Im working on as part of a big box of spare parts....So it could be they are not actually for a rover V8.

I will try again tonight and post some pictures.

The manifold is a specific westfield manifold, and that fits perfectly.

The hole that the gas flows through is bigger on some gaskets. The mounting holes are the same on all RV8's.
