Chimaera cooling problem

Hi my 4.0 TVR struggles to get above 70 degrees driving. Can get to about 75 idling.
I have fitted a new 82 thermostat but not helped.
When running at 70 irregular tickover and dies
When I get temp up to 75 ish ticks over 850 rpm fine.
I also changed temp sensor which has improved running.
I used to run 3500 rover sdis in 80's and used to run 88 degree thermostats to get them running nice.
Anyone fitted 88 degree thermostats to their tvr?
