rover v8 oil cooling

Post by forestrynick »

Hi all,

I'm mid-way through a rather slow offroad challenge / race truck build and currently sorting out oil coolers.

Will be running a rover 3.9 from a disco with standard auto box. It will mostly be used for slow winching type events but with occasional high speed blasts (if I end up doing a lot of speed will re-visit plans).

Don't want the original radiator plus coolers setup - using a new ali rad in the back. Just working out plans for oil coolers.

Will a pair of 13row 235mm oil coolers be appropriate. (one for transmission and one for the engine). Probably in front of the engine because there's loads of space but not currently planning fans for them.

Any advice is welcome

Nick

Don't put them in the front they will get filled with mud and that's it no cooling, other than that they should work OK but you might want to mount them in front of your rad so they get some airflow.
