Stag water pump.

Post by DaveEFI »

My brother (who is a bit internet phobic) has a Stag which has barely turned a wheel since he bought it some 12 years ago. Each time he decides to do something with it, something else has broken.

But at long last he's decided to get it sorted as a winter project - and it's going to have the welding needed for an MOT done - including some new panels at the front. Well over £1000 worth. The pre-MOT check done by the same garage are happy with everything else.

But it's started leaking from the water pump - again. The new one and jackshaft I helped him fit many years ago would have barely done 50 miles.
(He has the BL manual and we followed that carefully).

I see there are overhaul kits available for the pump - I believe it's the latest type - it's a MkII car.

Or would it be more to the point to junk the pump and fit an electric one?

Sadly, he and the car are at the other end of the UK from me, so I can only try and help by phone, etc.
