Cranked / angled rose joints

I've been trying to source some of these cranked/angled rose joints but have so far been unable to find a source for them, can anyone help? I have a set of rear adjustable lower control arms as pictured, and although I can buy direct from the company that sells the arms, they're like £50 or something each.

They are used for the ball joints in the rear LCAs, and I'm looking to use some for a set of custom front LCAs as well. I can obviously use a set of standard e.g. M18 rose joints and have them welded at an angle, but I would prefer to get hold of these type if possible so I only have to use one type all round the car. So if anyone could help I would be grateful!!

These folks do someting like this. But still around the £40 mark ?
I know its not the size you want but maybe that have something to suit you or be able to point you to a firm that could help ?

For £50 a joint I wouldnt be messing with trying to alter something like this with heat bending or a cut and shut to be honest mate ?

If you are just after more angle would a Johnny Joint work?

I thought johnny joints gave a little less angle actually? And they're more for massive 4x4 applications from what I can see, I know a few guys using them on off road spec landys/Cherokees. They're not cheap tho!

And Pel, wouldn't be heat bending or anything like that, no chance! If I can't get them off the shelf to match then I'll either buy them from the people who make the arms, or like I said use rose joints and weld the sleeve at a slight angle to give the same effect.

I actually have a F & R set of adjustable arms from Driftworks;

http://www.driftworks.com/driftworks-fr ... 3-s14.html

The rears I got cheap as the spherical bearings are shagged, they have the angle rose joints as pictured. The front arms I have are brand new, the ball joints are spherical bearings with the housing at a slight angle - I'd rather they were rose joints like the rear. The box also contained a spare set of ball joint shanks (or whatever they are called) so I was going to have a go at making my own lower control arms for the front now my welding is getting pretty good.

The main reason for going rose joints is that they are cheap as chips to replace. Standard ball joints for my Nissan are £30 a pop minimum, rose joints are half that plus would give me adjustability. Just a thought really!

30 degrees for Johnny max 22 degrees for spherical

Had a good look around and I think I'm just going to go with rose joints, probably M16 or M18 size should do the trick. I can get everything I need from McGill Motorsports.

Only thing I'm not sure on is what bolts to use to bolt the lower control arm to the hub, i.e. what will be the new ball joint shank/pivot / kingpin. Would an 8.8 or 12.9 grade bolt do the job? Or would I need something more like EN19?

I don't think of rose joints as being cheap, as cheap ones are not great, so the only ones I would buy for anything that matters would probably be £30-£50 each.

With steering and suspension, I more than ever remember that you get what you pay for, and I don't want something failing on me doing 100mph and putting me into a tree etc. (Hence why Demon Tweeks etc do not sell cheap stuff)

Hi
I would go for 8.8 bolts, 12.9 would, IMHO be a bit hard and though better tensile strength they would not be as tough as 8.8.
best regards

The XM racing series M18 x1.5 rose joints are top motorsport spec and are £13.88 each. Compared to £50 or so for the cranked ones I currently have from Driftworks, they are a bargain. Using the absolute best rose joints and rods etc. I can get, I costed the entire front or rear end out at less that £200 for all suspension arms. I would never scrimp on such important parts.

My Driftworks front lower control arms alone were £240 and the tension rods £105, and the rose joints they use are a cheaper spec than the XM stuff McGill sells. Don't get me wrong, they are a great bit of kit, but parts from driftworks are not cheap (e.g. rear LCA spherical bearings are £30 each from them ffs! They're an £8 part from McGill) and the paint is fecking shite, they're already chipped and I've only taken them out of the box to look at lol. I know I can make something similar, for not much money, and not much maintenance cost. The car is gonna be a track slag so won't see a lot of miles, add in some rubber dust boots and the rose joints should last if maintained well, plus give me even better suspension adjustability. I'm going for something like the RK Tuning R32 skyline, but I'm getting mine on the road first before playing about with suspension ... doing this to fill my time hah!

Presumably they're going into a fabricated arm of some sort ? Can the offset/angle not be achieved on the arm rather than the joint ? So you just use a regular straight RJ ?
