Extending a brake fluid reservoir

Post by mickyf »

Please be patient with me as I'm stupid.I have a '54 Wolseley 4/44 with a Rover V8.The bloke that modded the car fitted what appears to be BL pedals anc brake master cylinder. My problem is that the master cylinder and reservoir are inside the drivers glovebox. With the steering wheel in the way and not a lot of space above the cylinder in the glovebox its not easy to top up(besides looking crap).Seen these remote reservoirs advertised. My question is can I just drill a hole in the plastic filler cap and route a pipe through the bulkhead for the new reservoir so I can top it up in the engine bay?If so what type of pipe?what sort of fittings on the filler cap?how do I seal the fillercap so it doesnt overflow?Am I talking nonsense?
TIA
Mick

Is the current reservoir part of the assembly, or can it be removed? If it can be removed, fit a pipe?

My reading says you have something like this
http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_in ... ts_id=4054

If so you could swap it for
http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_in ... s_id=16839

And then fit your remote filler and pipe correctly

Oh and if you have not yet got a remote reservoir get one with a float indicator light so a light comes on if you loose fluid
