Rich,

sorry for the delay but been away at family wedding and my laptop was forbidden. Carriage for half sheet is £9, carriage for whole sheet (nearly 30kgs) would be around £15.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ian

Is it these people you work for? I've been thinking of using polycarb for the windows in my hot rod, simply because it is lighter and easier to work with than glass, plus I'll be using old fashioned type sliding side windows and worry about them cracking when slamming the doors. And I'll need to glue little finger grips to them to move them. :D

I've got 3mm Acrylic(Perspex) in the f/g rear hatch on my SD1. Replace it every five years or so due to scratching, sun damage, but it's cheap enough at less than AUD100 [UKP49] and easy to fit.

Ahh, all becomes clear. (No pun intended)

What is the score with cutting this stuff, can I do it at home easily enough? I'll be needing a bunch of shapes, not all regular square sizes, so I'd need to do trimming and rounding etc.

You can saw it with a jigsaw but to get a good finish on the edges you either need very high speed diamond router cutters or get the edges flame polished.

sorry to reanimate an old thread but can you use flat sheet and fit it to a curved door frame or does it have to be shaped to fit the door? Also is it legal in a road car?

I recently purchased 'Maqargarita XL', (giant Margarita glass production). I must say, it's the best purchase that I've made in a long time. The production of the giant Margarita glass is incredible! You can check out at

Just wondering, could you tint the rear panel using film? The tint would protect the perspex (if UV protective) and if you put it on the outside it would protect from scratching? Just replace the tint every few years instead of the whole window

Possibly you could make it last longer, but not here where the sun's the big killer.

I have now upgraded to lexan margard which is more scratch resistant than perspex, but no heavier. It claims to combine the impact strength of Lexan polycarbonate sheet with a proprietary abrasion and UV-resistant Margard coated surface which is warranted against yellowing, breakage, coating failure and loss of light transmission and offers improved resistance to weathering.

Hi Robrover.
Just wondered where you sourced the Margard from?
Cheers!
