Silly question, maybe, but if you have another shell with the bits you need in good nick, why not just build that one up?
Or is it also rotten, just in different places?

Cheers,
John

Might be easier to look for metric. 0.9mm is 20g 1.2 is 18

Most towns will have a steel fabricator who might sell you offcuts by scrap weight - much cheaper than buying by the sheet new.

Hi
I get my sheet ally and steel from Metals4u cheap, for small quantities like 1 or 2 sheets of 8x4 and they deliver at a reasonable cost. Yes I know they are metric thicknesses. . . I must confess using the other shell as a source of bits would seem like the obvious way to go.
Best regards
Mike

I've had a proper look and I think I can do the repairs just using sheet metal. Would be a shame to hack up the other shell, not that it's worth much anyway I suppose lol. Was planning on donig a fair bit this wkend but grinded another knuckle off in a bad way saturday, so having a few days rest lol!

Spent this summer/autumn practicing with a mates mig welder, and so far have replaced the inner wings and wing 'trumpets'/reinforcements as well as mostly stitch weld the engine bay. Looks ok so far.

Ran out of gas a long time back and had to give the welder back, but since then I've just bought a Lincoln Electric mig with all the toys and my own gas bottle.

Just need some gas and gauntlets and It'll be weld city at mine haha.
