Manual/cable boot release?

Post by chodjinn »

Hi, I have a smoothed boot on my MGB, and absolutely no locking mechanism(s) whatsoever. It is a fibreglass tailgate that was previously held down by two simple external spring/latch type things, which although worked extremely well they don't offer much in the way of security!

It was years ago since I thought about it, but I know there is some kind of latch/locking mechanism with a cable pull release that I can get to fit to the inside of the tailgate (but I can't remember what they are called! 'Bear' springs to mind ....?!).

Anyone help at all?!

RIP MGB V8 .... served me well as a learning curve.

loads of cars have this as standard. Get yourself down the scrapies and get one out of a rover if its cable pull you want or a focus if you fancy electric.
