Rover V8 block number confusion

Hi there,

I have a 1987 Land Rover 90 county V8, the block number says 24GxxxxxA but the v5c has the same engine number but with the suffix H instead of A, the engine is the original block.

Does anyone know if different is due to a typo at the factory? Not sure what the suffix denotes.

Many thanks

R

More likely a typo by the person who submitted the registration documents, or a miss-read by the local registration office of the submitted request documents I would think. They would have been 'manual' back then.

Thanks Russell,

Interesting I now have the hertigate certificate from Gaydon which has the same block number as the v5, so the error must have been at the factory.

Not sure there was an H suffix for the 24G block.

Good old British Leyland ;-)
