Lazy V8
Hi Guys, new member to the club and i hope you guys can help me i have a vauxhall FD ventora which is now fitted with a 3.9 disco V8 it has electronic ignition and stainless steel twin exhaust system with 1 silencer for each side and its 2.5" pipe, carb is 4 barrel weber 500 Edlebrok ok so all new plugs and leads and running through LT75 5 speed box all sounds good BUT!! now don't get me wrong i'm not some tear arse kid but my car is slow to pull away, there is no way you can wheel spin it and once its driving along the road its lake a lazy plodder, it gets up there just in no hurry to do it you deffo aint going to re-enact any scene's from Bullet ! like i said i'm not after being cock of the block and razzing round everywhere but i do want the car to drive like its fitted with a V8 motor any ideas on what's going wrong??
Biggest issue I find with almost all engines reporting low power or lack of performace is the throttle not achieving wide open.
Then just follow the usual logical approach
Health check - compression etc.
Electrics - big fat spart in the right place - and leads on the right pots
