Greetings - New V8 Builder

Post by jenko »

I've previously built kit cars, but a chance barn find see me with a Westfield Seight which is half built, and has a new 4.0ltr Rover V8 block. I picked it up on the weekend and have much work to do, but should be a fun car.

The block was purchased new from land rover in 2006, it's a 4ltr but no number!, So I don't know much about it. The are second hand a reportedly low milage, the only thing I know about them is the ex valve is 34mm, and the inlet is 39mm.

Anyway, my plan is to fuel inject the engine to get it through IVA test, but even though I'm fine on this subject, an V8 Build is new to me...So, many questions to come :-)

Valve sizes on a 3.5 SD1 engine are given as 40.00-41.30mm inlet, 34.48-35.60mm exhaust. Later EFI heads (with the notches for the injectors) have a slightly better valve/seat profile.

Welcome.

Plan your cooling! Lots of folk have cooling issues with the RV8 in a car with a small frontal area like a Westie.
