Vauxhall Carlton 2.0 to a V8???

Post by goldenphoenix »

I have a Vauxhall Carlton 2.0 which is obviously very boring! Im looking to put a V8 into it and make it into a sort of project, can I fit a 3.5 rover V8 or (preferably) a small block Chevy 350 into it and what work will need to be undertaken.

Its a 4 door saloon, 2.0 ltr petrol, Automatic box, Diplomat spec.

Cheers Guys

Now that's an unusual choice of motors lol! Welcome to the forum :D

Well if lotus managed to twin-turbo the old 3.6 litre V6 I'm sure they'll be room for an RV8 with a bit of fettling. Not heard of a calton done before, a few sierras have though. Might be a case of suck it and see!

I would think easily possible

The Commadores in V8 Racing Australian style were basically a Carlton shell

Not as easy as it looks to do , auto is easy , original shifter can be modified , prop cut and shut ,sump rotated etc .The big problem is the steering box , it sticks out a long way into the engine bay , engine can be put forward of the steering box but then no room for a decent rad
If you can get a steering rack of a holden and mod it to fit then you are laughing

For an SBC to rebuild Ebay is a pretty good bet, they come up quite often (in the UK), just decide what you want first before you spend your money.

I've got a 5ltr tpi chevy v8 all ancillaries including engine loom and ECU and, two 700r4 boxes (one no 3 and overdrive, one believed to be good if your interested.

I'm mid breaking a rust 1985 z28 Camaro, engine ran great before I took it out.

I have been considering putting it in my Stag but cant get my hands on a manual box for much cheapness.

PM if your interested and I'll give you my number
It's taken longer than I thought !!
