3.9 conversion

Post by ppyvabw »

I am thinking about building a 3.9 to replace my 3.5 at my leisure and then sell the 3.5 and swap the engines over. I am currently running the range rover timing cover and water pump. How difficult is it to come by these, or would it be best swapping the front covers when it comes to swapping the engine?

If all the bits fit your present engine, they should fit the new one I think.
just do the swap, clean your old lump up and get some pics on ebay.

The 4x4 front covers aren't hard to get or expensive if you want to sell your 3.5 complete.

Thanks. I would rather sell it complete, yes.

Is in distant future, but there is a 3.9 block, crank and con rods that im looking to buy but it's got the wrong timing cover. Although I suppose any cover will fit in, but dont want to get to swapping the engines to find out something doesn't fit quite right.
