Dave

I'm going to be putting the Mk1 back on the road shortly and one of the pre reqs is, of course, oil and filter change and after reading through this thread, and especially the last page with Andrew disection, I would like to give your filter a go :)

Have you sussed out the paypal link yet as that would be easiest.

ONE SIZE FITS ALL

Post by slice »

Been busy with an investigation - finding out what other V8's my filter fits.

pleased to announce that it fits ALL Ford V8's and ALL Chrysler V8's.
Also discovered that 99% of the "remote mounted" filter heads also have the same threads (3/4 - 16 UNF)
Its a far more popular thread than i imagined.

So... if you're interested in upgrading pls send me a msg with your existing filter number and i will check it out for you

thanks

Dave, I have ordered one of your filters. How many miles do you recommend between filter changes? Would every other oil change @ 5000 mile intervals be sufficient?

filter change frequency

Post by slice »

hello Paul thanks for the order!

how many miles do you generally travel per month and is it good steady runs or stop start heavy traffic?
the reason i ask is because if you are on long runs then less carbon is being generated and finding its way into your engine oil.
My filter does remove this carbon (as well as all the harmful solid contamination) from oil circulation but this will naturally reduce the service life of the filter to a degree.

as an example i travel some 1500 miles per month on good runs with very little idling.
With the present filter i have done 15,000 miles (same oil & same filter) and the oil is still spotless! (i test it regularly to check that there isl no solid contamination in circulation) however i have decided i will change it next weekend because i begin to be concerned about natural depletion of the oil anti-wear and anti-oxidation additives.

so... it seems you don't travel long distances then a filter change at every other oil change sounds a good option.

if you have any other questions then dont hesitate to shout

thanks

dave

Hi Dave, As the car is only used for fun I plan to avoid traffic and long periods of idling if possible.

I don't comute in the car and cover no more than 5000 miles a year.

Paul.

hi Paul,

yeah i think that the 5000 mile annual filter change would work well for you then.

one thing you will notice once the filter is installed is that the oil won't go black as it normally does - it will stay much clearer...and only become an amber brown by the time you come to change it in a years time.
this is simply due to the higher efficiency glassfibre media

the filter will be on its way to you tuesday morning

thanks again

dave
