Hi Tony,

yes i did enquire some time ago about an alternative to your engine filter - fleetguard do manufacture a 96 diameter x 95mm long with 3/4 UNF threads - but wont put glassfibre media in it...only paper.

i had also enquired about the chevvy filters too - these have the 13/16 threads - and yes they would manufacture with glass media but once again only in the longer 137mm bowl.
(maybe its more difficult to pack in the synthetic media with its steel support mesh into a short bowl).

i will ask the question and let you know

in the meantime though...don't you have space to remote mount?

cheers, thanks

short filters with glass media

Post by slice »

hi tony,

i have been pleading with the guys at fleetguard to make up the shorter bowl length spin on canisters with glassfibre media...drew a blank!

it would be such a special and the quantities wouldnt warranty the retooling and modified operations

so...sorry tony won't be able to supply that one for you.

have another serious think about remote mounting maybe....?

cheers

dave :(

Hi Dave,

Do these filters work fine inverted, as most of the TVR wedge cars run a remote filter that's inverted.

I think the length maybe a problem, but will try and measure the total clearance tonight.

Thanks

does the filter work ok when inverted ?

Post by slice »

hello Leigh, thanks for the enquiry

yes indeed the filter works as well inverted as it does with the bowl angled downwards.
the V8F8990 filter includes an "anti backflow valve" (or Anti Drain Back Valve ADBV as some of our US friends refer to it as) which prevents oil from draining out when inverted.
its a flexible nitrile disc that drops back down over the 8 off inlet ports of the filter thus keeping the filter full of oil when its located in that manner.

Dont hesitate to ask if you have any other questions or concerns

cheers

1/2 PRICE SUMMER SALE

Post by slice »

Well there's no denying we're in the middle of a recession - but there's no need to compromise on your engine filter quality and oil condition.

So, for the foreseeable future I will be discounting the price of my V8 Filters (V8F8990)

Instead of £15 each (ebay recently) you can bag a V8F filter for just £7.50 ea (plus £2.90 p&p).

AND...if you really dont think there has been an appreciable improvement in oil condition and colour then i will even refund your £7.50 !
They fit all Ford & Chrysler V8's, Rover, Morgan, Triumph TR8 etc, (but not chevvy yet) ...if you are unsure of filter suitability then pls get in touch

See www.v8filters.co.uk

Thanks, cheers

i still recon a shorter filter will open up a wider market mate,
as i use a filter on mine that is also used on ford sierras etc.

Post by slice »

Yeah ok Tony I will explore the possibility of the shorter filter bowl option with the glassfibre media again....

will the best thread size be 3/4-16 UNF ?

I do rate these filters and have been running one on mine for the past couple of years - but I have plenty of space :)

Yes, Slice and V8Filters are still around!

Post by slice »

Hello TC,

Yes I am still around...the website isn't accessible at the moment because
I'm upgrading/improving it presently.
I've been out of touch because I bought a house and living with the missus finally.

I do keep in contact with Dave Byron regularly...he has been regularly buying my Filters for couple of years now.

So thanks for your message TC - now that I'm finally settled in I will
arrange a 15% discount for all orders rec'd in the next 30 days.

thanks, regards, Slice
