Nice figures Ian, its hard to believe (or painful) that the drivetrain soaks up 80bhp tho

Ian,

Very impressive numbers and a superbly restored Healey, a real credit to you.

Kevin.

The engine dyno figures I had from the builder showed 419bhp brand new so I guess the drivetrain must be losing 80 ish bhp unless one of the guru's here can explain.

Kiwicar where are you?

DD rollers dont generally measure drivetrain losses, and tend to just estimate.

IMO such figures should be ignored anyway. Its whats measured at the wheels that matters on a rolling road. Not guesstimated flywheel figures.

The UK needs to get with the rest of the world on this, and start only using wheel figures.

And the wheel figures are a good result.

Thanks Guys,

but here's another question :D

From the graph do you think the carb (Edelbrock 650cfm) is strangling the top end? The power curve is strangely flat at the top end.

Cheers,

Ian

This is sounding familiar Ian :)

I'm looking at uprating to a Weber 650 after my dyno results!

Perry,

I've got a 1000cfm 4-barrel throttle body waiting to go on when I can get the EFI sorted out but in the meantime I've still got a Holley double pumper in the back of the garage so I might have a bit of a play :D

Cheers,

Ian

It's a Thunder AVS with vacuum operated secondaries so it may not be quite kosher for hardcore racers like yourself but you certainly can have first refusal on it. The EFI is a winter project. Whether it's this winter is probably in the hands of that tosser Gordon Brown
