Glad you guys had a great day, I wouild love to have been there but without the new engine in place and run in., would not have been very productive for me, my guys promissed to start the engine swap at the beginning of next month and it would have been a long drive just to be a spectator.

The data achieved is very interesting and I'm always amazed at how much power is lost through frictional losses, nearly 80BHP in perry's case when on gas which is not much less than a late 1800 MGB actually produced.

I wonder if we could give some thought as to how to reduce what is effectively a waste of power.

Kevin.

Rich

All I did was go to the posting with the list and pressed the Quote button
I filled in the details and then deleted the non relevant sections

Worked for me

Glad you got the car running again. - perhaps you could patent the solder melter!

Pretty good numbers

A question though on your RMP changes there - are you saying the graphs show loer RPM than actual?

If so how fast did mine spin the sheet says 6520

Eliot, did Martin have any explanation as to why your data log showed a different rpm to the dyno?

Your max torque rpm reads differently with your corrections, is the number in brackets your data log figure or Martins read out?

Ian!
Your GT40 is getting some recognition on another forum now. I must say, you have paid attention to detail mate.

Eliot!
We all had a good laugh as you pulled away. Do you realise just how far your yellow peril lurches to the right with torque as you boot it away from a standstill?? I still cant get over your 480ft/lbs of torque. Mental!!!

My MGB is doing just what I wanted it to do. Lots of low rpm torque for Drag Racing.

The next plan must surely be for us to all meet up for a 1/4 mile sprint at Santapod before the year is out eh??

Who's up for it then...???

There is a Saturday night special on the 11th October, followed by a RWYB day on the Sunday 12th October.

I'm lining this weekend up for the MG Drag Racing Clubs last piss up of the year. We all rock up on the Saturday for a giggle and racing until 9pm.
Then we go on the lash for a few hours and crash in our tents before the RWYB day on theb Sunday. Anyone fancy it??

See the Santapod website calendar

Sat 11th Saturday Night Special ( RWYB ) - RWYB all day till 9pm. Plus Jet Car, evening entertainment and camping Sat night.
Sun 12th Run What Ya Brung ( RWYB ) - Public Track Day

Basicly he did the first pull when it was first strapped down and got a really high figure - which even i didn't believe. He said the pickup for the engine rpm must of been out, so he recalibrated the dyno rpm to the same as what the laptop was saying and then done the pull.

The graph shows the max MPH figure as 94 mph, whereas the last time I was there it read 120MPH - (which is what it will do in 3rd flat out)
The datalogs for that time and this time are the same, so the RPM recalibration didn't work quite right. Look at my graph, the run is over at 4k rpm - which isn't right!
I think turbos,4wd and auto's just dont like dyno's!

As for the chassis twist - yes, it does get very interesting on the road to say the least. I think rosco will be in for a shock when he gets his 455 running.

Martin plotted both sets of data on the same graph, so all I have for the LPG run is the curves as the numerical data is for the Petrol run.
