York last weekend

Post by bigaldart »

What a good weekend, didn't start too well, first pass was a 10.2, then realised we hadn't set the tyre pressure, 18lbs and slicks=not a lot of grip. Sorted that and went for another go, shot ducks all the way down, wouldn't rev and couldn't get out its own way. Only change from first pass was tyre pressure!!!! Back in the pits started to check everything, found a few minor things but each restart it sounded no better. Eventually set everything to known good setting and waited for morning. Started it in the morning and it sounded ok again. Went out and ran 9.67, 9.79, 9.73, 60 fts from 1.23 to 1.27. Last pass driver left before tree so no time or speed, but car ran visibly the best pass of the weekend, plus a little rerouting of the wiring had eliminated a top end misfire we had suffered all weekend. Looks like more to come at the end of the month. Track was in good nick, as the guy from Avon Park, Lee Childs was overseeing the preparation and had supplied a couple of barrels of grip juice. :D

1.2 second 60 foots

Well done mate. I'm still dreaming of a 9.99 with my Rover V8 :(

Maybe next year, or 2012 ???

I can only pull 1.5's in my MGB. 1.2's must feel awsome off the line Al??

Max respect mate. Those are some good numbers. Do you have any pics of the car on here?? I would love to see some...

Regards
Perry

What???
And ruin the originality of my rare factory built MGB V8 ?? Are you mad man :)

Joking aside!!
I'll do whatever I have to in order to get another 0.7 of a second off this cars time by the end of next year. But it must still run this Rover engine !!
